As fall marches on and the weather gets cooler, the opportunities for picture-perfect beach days become less abundant. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans wrapped up their season in mid-September, so a fun-filled day at the local minor-league ballpark is no longer an option. But don’t let the outdoor-activity lovers and sports fans in your family get upset — just down the road in Conway and a short drive from Ocean Reef Resort, you can catch the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers take on various collegiate rivals for a great afternoon of football.

As of now, the Chanticleers are part of the Big South Conference, in which they face off with opponents such as Charleston Southern, Monmouth and Liberty. But, starting with the 2017-2018 season, the football program will compete in the Sun Belt Conference, marking a move to college football’s highest division. Coastal Carolina has sent some of its best players off to the NFL within the past few years, including Denzel Rice of the Philadelphia Eagles and Marcus Lott of the New York Jets.

The way the schedule worked out this year, the Chanticleers will host most of their games, so there will be plenty of opportunities to catch a ball game in Conway this fall! Tickets are generally easy to come by and available to the public, and a lot of group packages are offered.

Tickets to home games are typically available for $20-$25, and many discounts are offered, such as student discounts and discounts for kids under 12. Tickets can be purchased at the Brooks Stadium box office, on the Coastal Carolina athletics website or over the phone at 843-347-8499.

Whether you are a true fan of Coastal Carolina University or are just looking for a fun way to spend a lazy fall Saturday afternoon or evening, catching one of these games is sure to please everyone in the family, from the major sports fanatic to the person who is just looking to get outside for some fun. Visit the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers website today, and get ready to cheer on the home team!

Ocean Reef Resort encourages all its guests to get out and enjoy the local Myrtle Beach attractions, and wearing your teal and cheering on the Chanticleers on fall Saturdays is definitely a Grand Strand tradition.
