Open Air Banana Boat Lounge and Pool Bar Open for Business!

This summer, longtime visitors to Ocean Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach will find a newly renovated pool deck area. Papagayos is no more, and in its place, a freshly improved Banana Boat Lounge has opened its door—and its windows!

“It’s an inside-outside bar,” said Ocean Reef’s general manager Jennifer Stahler. “The Banana Boat Lounge used to be an inside bar, but now it’s open through these great big rolltop windows and glass doors. Now the bar serves as both the inside bar and an outside, open-air bar. And all of it has full-on ocean views!”

The deck was extended to provide additional seating with tables, chairs and umbrellas. In addition, decking now runs all the way down to Ocean Reef’s restaurant, Café du Port.

“It’s a nice, long expansion to the pool deck, so that we can now serve our guests outside while they enjoy the view. You can just walk right up to the bar and order a drink, or if you want to come inside, you can still do that,” Stahler said.

Look for your favorite drinks at the new and improved Banana Boat Lounge, including the VooDoo bucket, which is a tasty concoction featuring four different types of rum, as well as margaritas, pina coladas and mouth-watering fruit daiquiris. Also look for tasty bites including buffalo wings, salads, nachos, burgers, baskets and sandwiches. There’s also a kids’ menu with cheeseburgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers. And don’t forget to look for happy hour specials from 4 to 8 p.m., daily.

So make your plans now to visit Ocean Reef Resort this summer and check out our new and improved, open air Banana Boat Lounge. The beach—and the view—is calling your name!
