Pennsylvania's Easton Renwick Fights Off Two Local Golfers to Claim the 7th Annual Junior Golf Shootout at Myrtle Beach National

April 3, 2010, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Easton Renwick of Punxsutawney, Pa. fired a final round 2-under par 70 to claim the boys overall championship at the 7th Annual Junior Golf Shootout at Myrtle Beach National. Renwick matched his first round 70 for a two-day total of 4-under par 140 to beat Austin Frick and Beau Teal of Myrtle Beach by five shots. Teal shot a final round of 1-under par 71 and Frick shot 1-over par 73, but Frick claimed second place on a scorecard tiebreaker. The final round was played on the West Course at MBN.

Renwick, 17, sank a 60-foot putt for birdie on the 8th hole to pad his lead, and added two more birdies on the back nine. Renwick is being heavily recruited by college golf programs including Penn State, Michigan, Ohio State, Maryland, South Carolina and Coastal Carolina.

Grant Waggoner, 15, of North Charleston, S.C. won the boys 14-15 year old division with a final round of even-par 72, and a two-day total of 146.

In the girls’ overall division, Katy Funk of Spartanburg, S.C. followed Friday’s opening round score of 76 with a 77 to defeat Maria Mancini of Ohio by 5 strokes. Mancini shot a final round of three-over par 75.
