Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort to Host the 14th Annual Carolina Couples Classic Event, October 7-10, 2010
07/15/2010
July 15, 2010, Pawleys Island, S.C. – The 14th annual Carolina Couples Classic, the premier couples’ golf tournament in South Carolina, will be held October 7-10, 2010, in historic Litchfield Beach. The Carolina Couples Classic attracts couples from across the country to compete for gifts and prizes.
Over the previous 13 years of the tournament, more than 750 couples have participated representing states such as Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. In addition to the two-person team competition, this year’s event again includes an Intra-Club Competition with additional prizes for the teams representing the winning golf club.
“The Carolina Couples Classic is the premier couples golf event in the Carolinas,” said Jim Woodring, vice president of golf operations for the Myrtle Beach National Company. “Many couples mark the Classic dates on their calendar every year and come for the competition, the great golf and to reconnect with longtime friends they’ve made at prior Carolina Couples Classics. We’re looking forward to the biggest weekend in Classic history this year.”
The entry fee without lodging for the 2010 Carolina Couples Classic is $595 per couple and includes one round of golf on both Willbrook Plantation and Wachesaw Plantation East, a welcome reception and cocktail party on Thursday night, lunch on Friday and Saturday, Saturday night’s awards party, a welcome gift at registration and tournament prizes.
Willbrook Plantation was recently ranked 31st by Golf Digest as one of “America’s Top 50 Courses for Women.” The course was designed by Dan Maples who has often called the course “one of my best.” Wachesaw Plantation East is a Clyde Johnson designed course with a Scottish flair and was highlighted on national television for the LPGA Kathy Ireland/Greens Competition Classic.
Couples packages are also available with three nights lodging at True Blue Villas, or at the Litchfield Resort Villas, for $779 and $854, respectively. Group leaders who bring three or more couples will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Willbrook Plantation or Wachesaw Plantation East pro shops.
The weekend will also include a Fall Demo Day, an annual tradition at the Carolina Couples Classic on Friday, October 8th at the Litchfield Country Club driving range. The event offers Carolina Classic participants the opportunity to test the latest in golf equipment technology from manufacturers including Callaway, Nike, Ping, Taylor Made and more. Carolina Couples participants will receive complimentary club fitting and substantial discounts on all golf purchases.
