4th Annual IceBreaker to Open 2019 Race Season at Myrtle Beach Speedway

For auto-racing fans on the Grand Strand, February marks a long-awaited return to the roaring engines, squealing tires and high-action thrills that their sport is known for. After a holiday-season lull at the track, Myrtle Beach Speedway will kick its 2019 season into high gear with the 4th Annual IceBreaker race, a two-day event set for February 1-2 this year.

Offering some of the exciting short-track racing in the Southeast, the IceBreaker weekend will feature races in four divisions — NASCAR Whelen Series Late Models (125-lap feature), Super Late Models (100-lap feature), Mini Stocks (40-lap feature) and Street Stocks (35-lap feature). All of the feature races are set for the afternoon of Saturday, February 2. But for race fans who are eager to catch some on-track action earlier, a full day of practice runs will be held on Friday, February 1. Further, optional practice runs will also be held for all race divisions on Thursday, January 31.

Here is the full schedule for the weekend:

Thursday, January 31

10 a.m.: Sign In / Park Trailers / Mount Practice Tires

12–6 p.m.: Alternating Practice (SLM, LM, SS, MS / 30 minutes each group in rotation)

Friday, February 1

8:30 a.m.: Sign In

9 a.m.: Pit Gates Open / Park Trailers

10 a.m. –12 p.m.: Practice (Rotate every 30 minutes; SLM, LM, SS, MS)

12–12:30 p.m.: Break

12:30–4:30 p.m.: Practice (Rotate every 30 minutes; SLM, LM, SS, MS)

4:30 p.m.: Practice Ends

5:30 p.m.: Pit Gates Close

Saturday, February 2

8 a.m.: Pit Gates Open

9 a.m.: MANDATORY Drivers’ Meeting

10 a.m.: Super Late Model Final Practice (30 minutes)

10:30 a.m.: Late Model Final Practice (30 minutes)

10:45 a.m.: Super Late Model Tech

11:10 a.m.: Street Stock Final Practice (20 minutes)

11:30 a.m.: Late Model Tech

11:30 a.m.: Mini Stock Final Practice (20 minutes)

12:15 p.m.: QUALIFYING (4 laps each group, groups of 5 / possible scuff lap depending on weather)
– Super Late Models (Cars impounded after qualifying)
– Late Models (Cars impounded after qualifying)
– Mini Stocks  (Cars to scales after qualifying)
– Street Stocks (Cars to scales after qualifying)

1:15–1:45 p.m.: Super Late Model and Late Model Work Session (Cars in starting order on pit road)

2 p.m.: Meet and Greet (All cars on front stretch)

2:45 p.m.: FEATURES
– Super Late Models (100 laps; Stage cautions at laps 30 and 60)
– Mini Stocks (40 laps)
– Street Stocks (35 laps)
– Late Models (125 laps)

General admission tickets to the IceBreaker race weekend at Myrtle Beach Speedway can be purchased for $20 plus tax, which includes track entry on both Friday and Saturday. Seniors ages 65 and up and attendees with military IDs are given $3 off admission, and kids 11 and under are admitted for free.
