The days have been getting shorter, the temperatures are starting to drop a bit, and the crowds of beach-goers are beginning to get thin out. All signs point to a winding-down of summer — but it’s not too late to take one last summer vacation on the Grand Strand before fall rolls in!

Marking the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day is the perfect time for a Myrtle Beach getaway to close out the season. After all, the three-day weekend is filled with late-summer fun, festivals, fireworks and more, and a Labor Day holiday retreat on the Grand Strand gives your family a chance to get away and get together one last time before the school-year routine returns. Further, with a stay at Ocean Reef Resort, you can treat your vacation crew to our comfortable accommodations and long list of amenities — all while soaking in the area’s many family-friendly attractions and saving some money with our Fall Inspiration Sale.

Consider some of these fun reasons to end your summer in style on the Grand Strand:

Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival: Get your holiday weekend off to a smokin’ start at The Market Common with this August 31-September 1 food-and-music-focused festival. Proclaimed the official barbecue competition of South Carolina, the Beach, Boogie & BBQ Festival features an array of tasty eats, a full lineup of live music, a collection of arts & crafts vendors, and a beer and wine garden.

Fireworks and Other Entertainment: The skies over Myrtle Beach will light up for one last time this summer with a pair of fireworks shows scheduled for Labor Day weekend on the Grand Strand. At the Barefoot Landing shopping/dining/entertainment complex in North Myrtle Beach, the SummerFest entertainment series offers roaming entertainers, live music and other activities on the evening of Friday, August 31, all followed by a season-finale fireworks show at 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 1. Myrtle Beach hot spot Broadway at the Beach will present a fireworks display over Lake Broadway on Sunday, September 2, at 10 p.m. — in addition to presenting free live entertainment every night of the week through September 2 as part of its Summer Nights entertainment series.

Outdoor Concert: Boasting “the Best Backyard in Town,” the Boathouse will wrap up its summer Sunday Concert Series on the Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach with a performance by alternative reggae band The Movement on Sunday, September 2. The show begins at 5 p.m.

Water Parks and Amusement Parks: At many of the Grand Strand’s water parks and amusement parks — including Myrtle Waves, Splashes Water Park and Wild Water & Wheels — Labor Day weekend will mark the end of the summer season, so visitors will get one last chance to experience the parks’ thrills and excitement before the attractions are closed for the fall and winter.

There aren’t many better ways to end your summer than with a fun-filled stay on the Myrtle Beach oceanfront at Ocean Reef Resort. Check out our end-of-season specials today — and get ready to bid summer farewell in style on the Grand Strand!
