Labor Day weekend is supposed to signal the unofficial end of summer. Apparently Myrtle Beach didn't get the memo. The summer party spills well over into autumn on the Grand Strand, and the Ocean Reef Resort puts you right in the middle of all the fall festivals.

From food fairs and cooking competitions to international festivals and arts and crafts shows, Myrtle Beach has a full social calendar for the months of September, October, and November. And it all begins Labor Day weekend with three major events and free fireworks shows.

Broadway at the Beach's Celebrity Square is the new home to the Coastal Uncorked Food, Wine and Spirits Festival, and Labor Day weekend is the new date. Featuring the top dishes from some of the best restaurants and bars in town, Coastal Uncorked offers a great opportunity to sample a wide range of cuisine and liquid refreshments. Theme nights include Chocolate Under the Moon and Moonshine Mixology on Friday, the Brews 'N the Beach Craft Beer contest on Saturday, and the Grand Tasting Event on Sunday. Come hungry and leave happy.

Meanwhile in the Myrtle Beach downtown district, the inaugural Boardwalk Marketplace Arts & Crafts Festival will occupy the Plyler Park plaza with vendors from the neighborhood as well as the region. Shop for items you won't find at the surrounding beachwear stores, and hit some local merchants while you are downtown for a great weekend of retail therapy.

And a little farther south at Market Common, the 10th Annual Beach Boogie & BBQ Festival takes over the HGTC campus and sends the aromatic smell of smoked pork and chicken wafting through the air. Championship barbecue teams from all over the country compete for the Official South Carolina BBQ title, and craft beer vendors are on hand to help you wash it down with a flavorful brew from the beer and wine garden. Live music, a car show and kids activities are also on the lineup.
