For Lovers of Live Music, These 4 Grand Strand Venues Really Strike a Chord

When attending a live music performance, sometimes the venue can be as important as the act on the stage. That’s because, when the acoustics and the atmosphere are just right, it can make the tunes sound even better and the experience all the more appealing.

Of course, as a renowned destination for beach vacationers, the Grand Strand has its fair share of exceptional music venues. And if you’re vacationing here when an artist you enjoy is performing in town, you should try your best not to miss the show.

Especially if the performance is being held at one of these four top Myrtle Beach area music venues, you won’t want to miss out — as you’re sure to be in for a sonic and scenic treat:

1. The Boathouse

Located right on the Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach, the Landing at the Boathouse serves up seafood, sandwiches, burgers and sandwiches that are worth going out of your way for on their own. But when live music is presented on one of the venue’s multiple stages — and especially when it’s on the Waterway Stage with the Intracoastal as the backdrop — you definitely won’t want to miss out. Note: The Boathouse hosts free concerts every Sunday from April through early September as part of its Outdoor Summer Concert Series. Most Saturday nights during the summer also feature free live music on the Waterway Stage.

2. The Deck - House of Blues

Located at North Myrtle Beach shopping/dining/entertainment hot spot Barefoot Landing, the House of Blues is known for bringing in big regional and national touring acts to play at its juke joint-inspired music hall. And when acts perform on the Deck — the venue’s outdoor stage — attendees are in for a real treat, often complete with fire pits and cabanas. (Especially during the peak summer season, many evenings at the House of Blues even feature free live music on the Deck starting at 7 p.m.)

4. The Bowery

Known to its fans as “the 8th wonder of the world,” historic local music venue the Bowery is situated just off the Boardwalk and 50 yards from the Atlantic Ocean in downtown Myrtle Beach. Open since 1944, it’s the oldest bar on the Grand Strand, and fans of country music might recognize it as the birthplace of iconic group Alabama. Devotees of country and rock — and especially classic rock — will enjoy the establishment’s regular performances by house band the Bounty Hunters.
