What’s New in Myrtle Beach for 2021

Ready for a big, fun year?

We are too. If you look at the new-year scene on the Grand Strand, you’ll see lots of opportunities for that. From new openings and renewals of old favorites, here are a few we have our eyes on for 2021.

ATTRACTIONS

SurfWorks-American Surf Park

The ocean isn’t the only place to go for waves. South Carolina’s first man-made surf park is coming to town. It’ll include as many as 1,000 hourly waves, from 2-6 feet high. Construction will begin in 2021 for an anticipated debut in 2022.

Funplex

Coming in April, this place will have it all: Rollercoasters and mini-golf, a water park, and delicious food choices between bouts of fun. Test your skills in the arcade or on the Go-Kart track. There’s fun for every age at The Funplex.

Go Karts

Huntington Beach State Park Nature Center

There’s a new nature center to explore, and it’s awesome. You might not know that a lightning strike three years ago destroyed the previous center. The new rendition features a birding area, classroom, and exhibit area with animals. You’ll love it as much as the kids do!

Ship Playground at Gardens by the Sea

Ahoy, mateys! Gardens By The Sea has a new adventure for the kids. Come let them play on this oceanfront ship, with slides and climbing ropes. Much more discovery awaits on board, too. There’s a covered area with benches for the parents to mellow out.

The Lineup at Alabama Theatre

A visit to Alabama Theatre is a tradition for many Myrtle Beach travelers. One reason: There’s always a new show to see. In 2021, watch the antics of comedian and juggler Slim Chance. Among the tribute bands in the lineup: those for The Little River Band and The Bee Gees.
