Off the Beaten Path: Great Entertainment on the Grand Strand

It’s darn-near impossible to be bored on the Grand Strand.

Even with nothing to do, you’re in relaxation mode. And there are plenty of places to know about that you might not have tried for fun. The Grand Strand presents opportunities for discovery.

Here’s how to mix it up a little for your fall trip.

Why Visit Myrtle Beach in the Fall?

Fall has a flavor all its own on the Grand Strand. Fun in the sun doesn’t stop, but it does make way for a few mellow activities to restore and revive. We’re talking daytime highs in the mid-60s. That’s perfect for outdoor activities (or a chance to duck into someplace warm on chilly days.) Nights are seasonable, just right for a drink at The Crafty Rooster in Conway or a walk in North Myrtle Beach Park.

1. Atalaya Castle

Circa 1930s, Atalaya is a journey into American history. Revel in its distinctive imprints of Moorish and Spanish architecture. You’re also right on the beach at Huntington State Park, which only adds to the ambiance. It’s a popular spot for weddings and amazing social media photos to post.

2. The Chemist - Craft Cocktails and Modern Cuisine

Myrtle Beach boasts a burgeoning culinary scene. One such unique experience: The Chemist, a creative setting modeled after a laboratory. Explore inventive meat and seafood dishes you’ll find nowhere else. Indulge in one-of-a-kind twists such as the Key Lime Pie Cocktail and bubble shots.

3. La Belle Amie Vineyard

Relax on the patio for live music and wine-tasting on a scenic former plantation. Treat yourself to Wine Wednesday and a cellar tour, and sample local Twister Sister wines. Tastings and outdoor events are by reservation only, so visit La Belle Amie online.

4. EdVenture Myrtle Beach

Let the kids get lost a while in their own Grand Strand discovery. This cozy science museum is a welcome respite from the beach and pool, from toddlers to teenagers. Grab lunch after your adventure in Market Common, perhaps at The Brass Tap. They serve 60 craft beers on tap and some of the best housemade guacamole around.

5. Murrells Inlet Marshwalk

Away from the hubbub of Myrtle Beach, find an oasis on the Intracoastal Waterway. Steal away to this historic fishing village for waterfront dining. Each, though, with their own characteristics to become favorite spots. Try Creek Ratz for Calamari, Crab Cakes, and some of the tastiest burgers on the Marshwalk.
