Open for Business: Where to Go at the Beach in 2021

So you’re ready to get back to the beach.

We can’t blame you. Even for a winter getaway, you can’t beat Myrtle Beach as a destination. Lucky for you, there’s also plenty to do on the Grand Strand in the winter. Businesses here have been diligent about keeping doors open and keeping folks safe.

We wanted to put a list together of attractions that are open and ready for you in 2021.

From old favorites to new hot spots, Myrtle Beach has lots of fun places to visit. Sights to see. Restaurants to dine in. For adventure or leisure, you’ll find it all on the Grand Strand – often just a short jaunt away.

What’s Open in Myrtle Beach?

The Beach!

Yes! Beaches in most Grand Strand towns have opened for visitors. You’re not required to wear a mask while on the beach, but please practice social distancing and other cleanliness protocols.

Broadway at the Beach

It’s a nice spot for dining and shopping – families especially – with a wonderful array of shops and restaurants. Stop and give a handful of fish feed to the carp that live in the pond. Shop til you drop, or just get your steps in at this relaxing spot in Myrtle Beach.

For safety: Broadway at the Beach is taking a proactive approach to sanitizing high-touch points throughout the property. That includes common-area seating, door handles, restrooms, and more. The staff cleans throughout before the complex opens daily.

Ripleys Aquarium

Pier 14 Restaurant & Lounge

Be sure to stop by the gift shop for a shirt or hat from this famous pier. There is no better place to have dinner and drinks with an incredible ocean view. Try the shrimp po boy – but really, anything you order here is going to be scrumptious.

For safety: Pier 14 is adhering to local regulations and CDC recommendations for safety.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach

Another stellar spot for the family. Bring the grandkids too! Jellyfish, penguins, and stingrays. Oh, my! Everyone will love a walk through the underwater tunnel, where you’ll come face to face with some of the most unbelievable sea creatures in the world.

For safety: There are social-distancing markers throughout. Staff have limited contact with guests, thanks to cashless payments and protective barriers. Team members wear masks and must pass a pre-shift screening before reporting to work.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

It’s an amusing experience your family will love. There’s always something new here to surprise you. If you loved the TV show as a kid, you’ll have a blast visiting the real thing. You’ll have a blast and learn a lot at the same time!

For safety: Masks are required. The staff adheres to strict sanitation guidelines, and procedures are in place for limited contact. They’re also reducing capacity to help avoid crowds, and following the Centers for Disease Control protocol for social distancing.

SkyWheel Myrtle Beach

Ever seen the Grand Strand from 200 feet in the air? Take a ride on SkyWheel for the best views in the Grand Strand. On a ride of about 12 minutes in air-conditioned cars, you’ll be able to take marvelous photos of the skyline and shore.

For safety: To allow for social distancing and extra cleaning, you might have a longer wait to get on SkyWheel. We suggest buying tickets online. The staff encourages guests to wear a mask when visiting. Masks are not required.

WonderWorks Myrtle Beach

It’s really mind-blowing to consider all that can be accomplished in science. You’ll love the learning experience you’re in for at WonderWorks. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth! The kids will love the mini rides and cool attractions.

For safety: All visitors must wear a mask. If you don’t have one, you can buy one here.
