Summer Events Roundup for Myrtle Beach

From musical productions to fun runs to baseball, the Grand Strand has plenty going on this summer.

Myrtle Beach’s favorite team, the Pelicans, will host a series with their coastal rival Charleston RiverDogs from June 23-July 3.

JULY 1-AUG. 3

Muzika! The Grand Strand Music Festival

7-10 p.m.: The festival includes more than 30 events, including Broadway tunes, chamber concerts, choral-orchestral performances, fully-staged operas, musical theater presentations, and voice recitals. It also features a Master Artists Concert Series of international fame.

 

JULY 2

Josh Turner, Alabama Theatre

7-9 p.m.: See this MCA Nashville multi-platinum-selling star in person. Drawing on inspiration from legends such as Johnny Cash, Randy Travis, and Hank Williams, Turner has become legendary on his own.

JULY 3

David Clark’s The Music Of Billy Joel, Alabama Theatre

7-9 p.m.: “Songs In The Attic” is a musical homage from this veteran entertainer from Long Island. His depiction of Billy Joel is uncanny, from appearance to performance to engagement with the crowd.

THROUGH JULY 3

Yoga in the Yard, Crooked Hammock Brewery

10-11 a.m.: Recenter and have a cold beer (the first one’s on the Crooked Hammock.) Join Sea Yoga for a soothing physical and mental workout, with a variety of yoga techniques. All levels are welcome. Bring a mat.

JULY 4

13th Annual Independence Day 5K, Grand Park Lake At Market Common

7-9:30 a.m.: One of the Grand Strand’s most famous races winds through Market Common and the former Air Force Base. Participants receive a race shirt, medal, and post-race goodies. The event includes a mile fun run and a kids’ dash.

 

4th Annual Red, White, And Blue 5K, Barefoot Landing

7-9:30 a.m.: Run a USATF-certified course. Runners get a custom-designed tri-blend shirt (guaranteed if registered by June 25), finisher medal, and 16-ounce pour from Crooked Hammock Brewery. Dress in costume for the chance at more prizes. Also includes a kids’ dash.

 

Fourth Of July Fireworks Cruise, Barefoot Queen Riverboat Cruises

7:30-9:30 p.m.: Take a relaxing cruise on the Intracoastal and observe the Barefoot Landing Fireworks.

 

July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza At Broadway At The Beach

10 p.m.: See the show over Lake Broadway, weather permitting.

Comedian Brian Regan, Alabama Theatre

7-9 p.m.: Catch one of the nation’s most well-known comedians deliver his classy, clean satire. His performances usually sell out!

The Highwaymen Live, The Carolina Opry

7-8:30 p.m.: Catch country music’s most renowned supergroup. They’ll perform favorites such as “Dukes of Hazzard,” “On the Road Again,” “Ring of Fire,” and more. This legendary show includes tribute artists for Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson.

 

JULY 10

Creedence Revived – CCR Tribute, Carolina Opry

7-8:30 p.m.: This show is one of the world’s most highly sought-after, selling-out shows everywhere they go. This talented ensemble hails members from Chicago and Los Angeles with a vocalist known for his ability to sing in various voices.

Forever Motown, Alabama Theatre

7-9 p.m.: This is an amazing group of nine all-star performers, including:

Comedy Night – The GREG WILSON, GTS Theatre

9-10:30 p.m.: Greg Wilson is known as The Monster Truck of Stand-up, The Hurricane of Hilarious, and The Mexican Megaphone. He’s appeared on “The Neighborhood”, “Upload”, “Narcos: Mexico”, “Superstore”, “Hawaii Five-O”, and “Modern Family.” He’s done stand-up on Showtime, ABC, TruTv, VH1, and Comedy.TV. He has a new half-hour special “Hindsight is 2020” on Youtube.

What Would Frida Do Summer Camp At Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum

1-4 p.m.: Start with a tour of more than 100 works of art from Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Camp includes discussion and experience of self-expressionism and folk art through day-to-day assignments. Students bring home mixed-media self-portraits and sketchbooks.
